Northeast Harbor, Maine

Mount Desert Island (MDI)

We can’t wait for you to join us downeast (as the locals say) at the Asticou Inn on Mount Desert Island!

The largest island off the coast of Maine and home to the only National Park in the Northeastern United States, Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island is a truly magical place, especially in the fall.

There are many small towns on MDI and the one we are calling home for our special day is Northeast Harbor. It is tucked away on the southern coast just east of Somes Sound and inside its own little cove. You’ll see.

Here’s how you get there:

AIRPORT

Bar Harbor Airport (BHB) is the closest airport to the island, but it is a small one with flights mainly from Boston. Being such a small airport, flights are few and far between - so keep those eyes peeled!

More and cheaper flights are found flying into Bangor International Airport (BGR). A roughly 75 minute drive awaits those that fly in to Bangor in your rental car, Lyft, Uber, cab, carpool, shuttle service, or hovercraft of your choice.

Further still is the Portland International Jetport (PWM) in Portland, Maine. A beautiful three hour drive lays ahead of those flying in to this coastal Maine city.

BUS

A bus depot in Bangor is your best bet for getting as close as possible on the busways of our beautiful east coast. The southernmost bus connection is at Boston’s South Station, which you can get to from pretty much anywhere.

Once in Bangor you’ll need to navigate via ride share to Bar Harbor, where you can hop on the (free!) Island Explorer route 5 or 6 bus to Northeast Harbor.

Keep in mind this option leaves you on island without a car, so get ready to mingle with some of our other guests and get you a driver friend!

CAR

GPS Address:

The Asticou Inn - 15 Peabody Drive, Northeast Harbor, ME

The Asticou is about 8 hours from New York, 5 hours from Boston, and 3 hours from Portland.

Keep in mind Maine is absolutely stunning in the fall and there are many scenic routes to take. We recommend Route 1 for the grade A leaf peeping, but be warned it will add a good chunk of time to your drive.
